Poor Ben. His sister is a big kid in grade five and his brother is a big kid in grade three. Ben’s just a little kid in preschool. He can’t swim, he can’t use chopsticks, he can’t even see out the car window. And worst of all, today is report card day. More than anything, Ben wants to bring home a report, just like the older kids do. But there are no report cards in preschool.
Where did this book come from?
I was the youngest kid in my family. My older brothers had social studies and sleepovers and bicycles and report cards years before I did. They were also the kindest brothers you can imagine. I mulled over my experiences as youngest for about 45 years before I wrote this story.
